8.5 - Extended end laps

Where sheet length restrictions mean a double span sheet is not possible, it is possible to provide extended overlaps at the junction of two single span sheets (>10% of span either side of support) to create an effective double span; Refer to Fig. 8.5a.
Although this is technically suitable as a detail, it is not recommended for practical reasons (ie. less economical, difficult to install, requires more detailed fixing configuration with additional fixings in webs of sheets) and should only be considered on roof deck
profiles deeper than 100mm (SR 135 and above).
