Where SMD are contracted to carry out the decking, temporary propping will be identified on SMD drawings, where required. It is the responsibility of a Main Contractor to obtain a temporary works design approval for any propping that is required and ensure the props are installed prior to concreting.

Temporary propping should not be removed until the concrete has achieved 75% of its design strength. The design and installation of the temporary propping is the responsibility of others (not SMD) and should be of adequate strength and construction to sustain the dead weight of the concrete plus any construction live loads. For guidance on propping loads to be resisted contact SMD Technical Team.
