Reflection on a Successful 2017

We are looking ahead to a successful year after celebrating a number of significant milestones during 2017.

Commemorating our 30th anniversary with prestigious national awards

In the Construction Enquirer awards we were named Best Specialist Contractor to Work With (Under £25m) category and also awarded a top 10 spot in the Best Specialist Contractor to Work For (Under £25m) category.

There was also a triumph in the FASET (Fall Arrest Safety Equipment Training) Excellence of Work Award 2017 for our high standard of work and health and safety performance on the 40-storey Scalpel building in London, and a highly commended in the Health Safety Training Achievement award.

We won the Innovation Award in the 2017 Building Safety Group (BSG) Health & Safety Awards and were shortlisted in the Sub-contractor Award and Best Use of Technology Award.

Our Development Director Dan Williams said: “We are delighted to have won so many awards in 2017, which is testament to both the skill and dedication of all my colleagues and the high standards we set ourselves.

“Our aim is to be the UK’s leading provider of structural floor and roof solutions to Britain’s competitive construction industry and we will certainly not be resting on our laurels as we strive to reach that goal.

“Despite the challenges faced this year by the construction industry as a whole, we have continued to hit targets and grow both turnover and market share. We look forward to 2018 with renewed optimism.”

Although we are known for shaping Britain’s skyline, we also continued our international expansion programme by signing a distribution agreement for products in Cyprus, linking with Angastiniotes Bros Steel Limited on the Mediterranean island.

Technical Literature

Another landmark came with the publication of our Technical Director Jamie Turner’s ‘The White Book’, a concept design guide that includes design look-up tables and detailed specifications for floor decking. It is available online as an interactive resource and in print format.

MP Praise

And Poole MP Robert Syms praised us while visiting our Tower Park HQ. He said: “It is great to see a specialist Poole company at the forefront of the UK’s manufacturing industry and playing a major role in the construction trade.”

Charity

On the charity front, colleagues took part in gruelling cycling and walking marathon challenges and raised £2,000 for Julia’s House, the children’s hospice in Corfe Mullen.
